The Present The latest range of Latham International Filter Presses can be supplied in Fully Automatic form on Presses having plate dimensions of up to 2.45 x 2.45 m. Therefore doing away with the need for an operator during the discharge sequence. For many years the press manufacturers have tried to introduce a travelling filter cloth to the design, but due to the nature of how the horizontal press works this has proved both unsuccessful and unreliable. |
For more than four years Latham International have been manufacturing a unique plate and cloth vibrating system, this works on the principle of putting a high frequency resonance through the plate and cloth, removing any remaining filter cake within the chamber. This can be added to either a single plate or multiples of plates, allowing on average a 100 chamber unit to be discharged in less than 10 minutes. |

Cloth Washing To maintain
throughput and increase cloth life it is most important that the filter
cloths are cleaned effectively and efficiently on a regular basis. This
again can be a lengthy process if done by hand. Using Latham International's
unique low head design cloth washing machine it performs this function
on an automatic basis, operating at up to 100 Bar pressure with flows
of up to 400 LPM. Cloth wash sequence can either be initiated by reduced
filtrate flow or on a preset number of cycles. |

The Future Trials are currently underway using a load cell mounted in the vibration system. Systematically weighing individual or multiples of plates, clearly identifying if any filter cake remain in the chamber. |
